Marriage Certificate - How to Get a Certified Copy

There are 3 ways to submit an application to obtain a certified copy of a Marriage License:

• In person - we are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

• Online - Note that our office may contact you once we receive your online submission. You must provide a good daytime phone number and email address. If you choose to have your certificate mailed to you, we will send you an email regarding payment. Click here to submit an online application.

• By mail (Send to the Milford City Clerk's Office, 70 West River Street, Milford, CT 06460) Click here for a copy of the application.

Please note that if you are a party to the marriage and are requesting the certificate with social security information on it, you must provide a copy of a government-issued photo identification.

WE DO NOT HAVE DIVORCE DOCUMENTS. Please contact the Milford Superior Court at 203-877-4293

Each certified copy is $20. For payment, we accept cash, checks made out to the Milford City Clerk's Office, money orders and credit cards. Please note that for all credit card transactions, there is a $1.50 convenience fee.
