Local History Room
Milford Public Library’s Local History Room houses books, maps, genealogies, and other historical records of local interest. In addition to what is housed in the room, the collection also includes City directories, microfilm, and digital content.
Updates as of January 2024:
We are excited to announce that our Milford newspaper microfilm reels are in the process of being digitized! Even though these reels are out of the building, we still have our New Haven Register and NYT reels in house. Some reels might be available online during this process - please check with Diana Preece (contact info below).
The Local History Room is accessible by staff and appointment only while we complete inventory. Yearbooks and other materials can be retrieved by request for use within the building. For our drop-in visitors’ convenience, maps, directories, and microfilm (see above) are available near the Reference Desk. Ancestry.com and other online resources are available via our WiFi and public computer stations.
