Milford Public Library 2024 June Program Calendar

June news at the Library!

Summer Reading is back, along with many more wonderful things happening at the Library in June. We hope you can join us.

Summer Reading starts on June 17! Win cool prizes just by reading or listening to books and magazines. Find some great books for your own home library or to give as gifts at the June Friends of the Milford Library Summer Booksale. Cash, credit cards, and checks are accepted. All proceeds directly benefit library programs for children and adults, museum passes and more.

Learn about doing family research as we also celebrate the decades-long genealogy presentations at the Library by Greg Thompson. Focus on your mental wellness with a Nada Yoga and Sound Workshop and with the program, “12 Tips to Manage Anxiety” with Dr. Wendy Hurwitz. Join us for a special live author Q&A and book signing with Liv Constantine, as we celebrate the June release of the sequel to her best-selling debut novel, The Last Mrs. Parrish.

We are also happy to welcome Elliot Severn, Director at SHU’s Discovery Science Center in Bridgeport, as he discusses the upcoming programs at the museum, planetarium and science center and shares his own professional rocket launch photography. Musician Jim Lenn will explore the impact of the Ovation guitar and perform songs from the music era of the late 60’s-early 70’s and the Milford Prevention Council will present a program to educate parents about vaping and its impact on youth development. For our Tuesday movies this month, we have two films from 2024 based on true stories and lives: Bob Marley: One Love and the family adventure movie, Arthur the King.

Summer Reading for children and teens: Read, Renew, Repeat! also starts on June 17! June programs in Children’s include a summer reading kick-off event on June 20 under the Fowler Pavillion with Bring the Hoopla! (hula hoop fitness fun, bubbles, chalk drawing, as well as delicious ice cream from the Walnut Beach Creamery ice cream truck! Other June programs in Children’s include interactive theater and music programs, Minecraft Bingo Night and making your own Cannoli Cones. Teens will also get the chance to explore making delicious food by designing your own Lo Mein recipe, celebrate LGBTQ+ month making rainbow Perler bead crafts, meet live turtles up close, and hear about pet professions with the CT Humane Society. Registration for all Summer Reading programs may be done on our website using READsquared or in-person at the Library.
