Mayor Smith Invites Community to September 11 Remembrance Ceremony

The City of Milford will remember the events of September 11, 2001 on Monday, September 11, 2023 with a ceremony at Live Oaks Elementary School September 11 memorial garden beginning at 8:30am. We mark the anniversary of this tragic event with a ringing of the bells by Fire Chief Anthony Fabrizi at 8:46am.

In Milford, we remember victims Michael Miller and Avnish Patel, both graduates of Live Oaks School, as well as Seth Morris, who was a student at Mathewson School.

Mayor Rich Smith invites all residents to attend the ceremony and asks everyone to take a moment of pause and remembrance in honor of those who died, and those who participated in rescue efforts on that tragic day.

If you are unable to attend the event the city has memorial sites you may visit including City Hall, a section along the Housatonic holds a "Flight 93 Heroes Park'' in honor of the passengers on the plane in Pennsylvania, and a memorial bench sits in a small public park in Downtown Milford on River Street.
