NOTE: Service fees apply for online payments: You will be charged a 2.5% fee, subject to a $2.00 minimum, when using a VISA, Master Card, American Express or Discover credit card. If using a VISA Debit Card, there will be a flat fee charged of $3.95. Other debit cards will be subject to the 2.5% fee. There is a $2.00 fee for electronic check transactions under $10,000.00, and a $10.00 fee for electronic check transactions over $10,000.00.
A $20.00 fee will be charged for any returned electronic check transaction.
DMV CLEARANCE: Are you renewing your registration? Or registering a new vehicle/vessel? DMV Clearance for online payments is NOT immediate. Delinquent motor vehicle and supplemental motor vehicle tax bills paid by credit/debit card will take 2-3 business days for clearance with DMV. Electronic checks will take 10 business days for clearance with DMV.
For immediate clearance, please pay your balance in full by cash, certified bank check or money order at the Tax Collector's Office.
If a bill is BLOCKED online, please call the office at 203-783-3217 for more information. A common reason is that back taxes may also be owed.
