Training Division

The Training Division is responsible for all the training needs of the Department. The Training Division coordinates regular review training for certified officers and arranges additional training to ensure Milford Police officers are up-to-date on the latest developments in criminal law and law enforcement techniques and procedures.

Recruit Academy

The primary mission of the Milford Police Academy is to provide professional recruit level and in-service educational opportunities for members of the Milford Police Department and other law enforcement practitioners who may come to participate in our Academy training. The Milford Police Department Regional Training Facility is located at 59 Devonshire Rd.  The Academy runs for approximately seven months. Attendees of the Academy come from many Departments throughout the State of Connecticut. Recruit Officers pursue a rigorous curriculum of academics and conduct a demanding physical training regimen. During their training, Recruit Officers learn skills and knowledge such as:

·         Search and Seizure

·         Constitutional Law

·         Patrol Techniques

·         Arrest and Control Techniques

·         Motor Vehicle Law

·         Domestic Violence Investigations

·         Sexual Assault Investigations

·         Juvenile Law

·         Narcotics Investigations
