Community Engagement Unit

The Community Engagement Unit promotes safety and crime prevention in the City Of Milford. Seminars are conducted throughout the year addressing safety and security to business and residential communities, as well as schools and private groups upon request. The Unit organizes block watch programs and hosts an annual safety day event. The unit is also responsible for the tracking of burglar alarm systems and enforcing the city alarm ordinance The Milford Police child safety seat inspections are also scheduled through this unit. The Community Engagement Officer conducts security audits on residential homes, commercial buildings and school facilities.
 
The Community Engagement Unit has also added a new element in K9 Winston. K9 Winston is handled by PFC Cox and is the department's first Service K9. Winston is utilized in a therapeutic capacity for crisis intervention, peer support, victim services and community engagement. 
 
The Community Engagement Officer Is also the Department Spokesman. He prepares a daily "Press Release" as well as interacting with the Press. The Daily Press Release, Arrest Log and Incident Report are available for review by both the Press and the Public
