Are there any library resources I can use while the Milford Library is closed?
Yes! The Library provides a wide array of digital offerings, which can be accessed from the comfort of home using your Milford Public Library card. We have also started curbside pick-up of physical materials.

What is happening to library programs & events?

How can I support my child at this time?

Our Children’s Librarians are offering virtual storytimes and other online programs. Check the  Milford Public Library Children's page for a current listing of programs. Contact us (203-783-3312) if you need help using the online platforms.

What if my items are due? Will I accrue late fees?
The due dates for all circulating materials that are currently checked out have been extended to June 30th. No late fees will accrue on materials that were originally due during the closure period.

Can I drop off my materials in outdoor book drops?
The outside book return at our lower level entrance is open. The New Haven Avenue return that deposits materials inside the building will remain locked. Returned materials will be quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours before being checked in and removed from your patron account. However, there is no rush to return materials.  You may still keep all materials currently checked out until we re-open to the public and no overdue fines will be charged.  We are opening the outside return so that staff can begin to process what we anticipate will be a heavy volume of items. Please do NOT drop off any donations. We currently do not have the staff or volunteers to process them and they will be discarded. Our statewide library delivery system is not yet operational;  if rturned items belong to another library, there will be a delay in getting them returned.  

What if some of my holds are ready for pickup?
We now have curbside pick-up! The only items available for pickup will be items placed on hold through our online catalog, or via telephone or email request. Patrons will be limited to 5 holds at one time. Our statewide and consortia delivery systems are not operating so you will not be able to place holds on items from other libraries. Any library materials that were ready for your pickup before we closed will be held for you until we re-open.UPDATE: Library staff will call you to schedule your  pickup time.  We will need to schedule appointments to ensure patron and staff safety. Please be patient as we work out procedures for this new service!

Can I apply for a library card?
If you need a library card to access our collection of ebooks, e-audiobooks, and e-magazines, or to place reserves on physical material, Milford residents can register for our Digital Access card. Contact the library at 203-783-3304, or go to our catalog and click on the Get a Library Card link to start the process (Note: This link may not be available on your mobile device).  You MAY use this card to place holds on physical items.

My library card is about to expire. How can I renew?
All library cards scheduled to expire have been extended until June 30th.  This date may be extended depending on how long we remain closed to the public. If you encounter a problem, please call the Circulation Desk at 203-783-3304.
