Milford Public Library 2018 September Program Calendar

Happy (almost) Fall!  We have LOTS to tell you about this month!

Tickets for our third Party in the Stacks go on sale Tuesday, September 4! Party in the Stacks is an after-hours, adults only evening featuring music, dancing, silent auction, games, delicious food and more! Hosted by The Friends of the Library, this is a not-to-be-missed event!  This year, the theme is "The Legends of Charles Island" and the library will be transformed into scenes from all your favorite seafaring titles!  Costumes are optional - so pull out your pirate hats, mermaid tails and other sea-inspired garb! Party in the Stacks will be Saturday, October 20, 7:00-10:00pm. Before October 1, ticket prices are $35.00 for Friend of the Library members, $40.00 for non-members; after October 1, all tickets are $50.00.  Tickets can be purchased at the Library Circulation Desk, or online at milfordlibrary.org. 

Continuing the seafaring theme, the Milford 2018 One City, One Story selections have been announced!  One City One Story is a program encouraging all residents, preschool to seniors, to read books sharing a common theme, encouraging dialogue and fostering a greater sense of community...one page at a time. This year's titles are:
Adult title: Treaure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
Middle Grade title: Pirate Island by Katie L. Carroll
Elementary title: Shiver Me Timber! Pirate Poems and Drawings by Douglas Florian

And if keeping track of all the great events happening around Milford is difficult, we are introducing a new city-wide event calendar, Burbio! Burbio is a free website iOS and Android app, and Alexa skill that puts Milford school,  library, government and community events in one place.  With Burbio.com residents can select calendars to follow, create a personalized event feed, sync events to their Google or Apple calendar and be notified when things change.   Burbio is free for residents and free for non-profits to stream their events.
