May 2014 Newsletter

Welcome to the Milford Public Library!

Looking out my window, I see tulips planted around the flagpole and know that spring really is here. Spring is a time of new beginnings and fresh starts – what better time to learn something new!

The Library has plenty of programs and classes this month to help you do just that. Genealogist Greg Thompson will be here to instruct us on how to use World Vital Records, as well as highlighting all the resources available at the Godfrey Genealogy Library in Middletown. Once you’ve learned all that, be sure to use one of our Library computers to access Ancestry.com for your own family research.

On the calendar we also have basic computer and word processing classes, an identity theft program and a workshop on energy saving tips; all this in addition to our many book clubs and movie programs!

The Children’s Department is busy as always with music, book and theater programs. Fairytales and folktales are being highlighted as we host the ACES Young Audiences Traveling Troupe for a program of Folktales from Around the World and a book group focusing on fractured fairy tales!

All of these programs and more are generously funded by the Friends of the Milford Library. The Friends are a wonderful organization of volunteers with a desire to get involved in their community and help improve library services.  The Friends are always looking for more people to be involved,  whether it is helping with the book sale, sharing technology or bookkeeping skills, brainstorming fundraising ideas, or being that go-to person for special events.  So, if you would like to help, either with occasional small tasks or a larger leadership role, the Friends want to hear from YOU!

Don't Miss Out...

Please Note:

Many of our online resources do require you to have a Milford Public Library card for access. If you are a  Milford resident and don't yet have one, please stop by the Library to get started.
