The City of Milford Prepares for COVID-19 - March 13

CITY OF MILFORD COVID-19 UPDATE

Milford, CT, March 13, 2020:  Effective on Monday, March 16, 2020, all City buildings will be closed to the public, with the exception of the Milford Police Department, the Milford Fire Department, the Milford Health Department, Human Services, the Public Works Department and Parsons Government Center.  All City Departments will be operational, however buildings will have limited public access by appointment only.  Access to Parsons will be restricted to two access points – the main entrance (door number 1) and the handicapped accessible entrance (door number 2).  Once inside Parsons, visitors must check in at the main desk to confirm their previously scheduled appointment before proceeding to conduct business.  Residents and visitors are encouraged to carry out their business via telephone, e-mail, fax or US mail in order to limit the number of persons inside City buildings (further instructions by City Department below).

The Milford Public Library and the Milford Senior Center will be closed at the end of the day today, Friday, March 13.  Please check the Milford Library webpage and Facebook page for services that will be offered remotely, such as on-line card registration, instructional videos and live-streaming story time.  The Milford Senior Center may also have limited services available, such as food pantry and other meal services.  Be sure to refer to its webpage for details. The Transfer Station will remain open during regular business hours from 7am to 3:30pm.

All non-essential City meetings will be canceled.  All other regularly-scheduled meetings will take place in the Chambers of City Hall and will stream “live” on the Milford Government Access channel 79 and online (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF3oquO8GVVwoJWPBKVjhrg).  Residents are encouraged to view these meetings remotely.  Public comments may be submitted ahead of time via e-mail or US mail and will be accepted into the record during the respective meetings.

For Board of Aldermen public comment – aldermen@milfordct.gov

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of our open space, parks and walking trails for exercise and fresh air.  City playgrounds, however, will be closed in order to prevent close-space interaction amongst users.

Please remember that we all must do our part to remain healthy and limit community spread of this virus.  Avoid leaving home if you are sick, be diligent about washing your hands and covering up your coughs and sneezes, clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces in household common areas and avoid places where large groups may gather.
