March Employee of the Month

CONGRATULATIONS to

KATHY SCARINZI

Public Health Nurse/Lead School Nurse

for being selected as Employee of the Month for March 2016.

 

As the recipient of the award for the Mayor’s Employee of the Month Program, please join us in extending a warm congratulation to Kathy in receiving this recognition.  After a review of all of the nominations, the Selection Committee unanimously chose her as the winner for her outstanding work performance, professionalism and compassion.   

 

Kathy began her employment with the City of Milford on August 26, 1993.  Serving an essential role as a Public Health Nurse/School Nurse, Kathy is a committed advocate, passionately promoting and protecting the health of students, staff, colleagues, and Milford residents.  In 2002, Kathy co-founded the Gay-Straight Alliance Group and also served as an advisor. She is currently the President of the Registered Professional Nurses Association.  In 2013 Kathy’s peers selected her to be Milford Health Department’s Lead Nurse and she has been reappointed           each year. In this position, Kathy provides a comprehensive orientation and continuous mentoring to all newly hired Milford Public Health Nurses and substitute school nurses.

 

Kathy has continued her education throughout her career, furthering her knowledge regarding school and public health nursing. In 2006, she attained her Certification in School Nursing from the National Board for Certification of School Nurses.  She has received a Certificate of Achievement from the FEMA Emergency Management Institute, reaffirming her dedication to serving the community in times of crisis.  Kathy was awarded the School Nurse of the Year Award in 2009 by the Association of School Nurses of Connecticut.

 

Kathy performs each of her responsibilities with competence, professionalism and compassion.  With a ready smile, Kathy’s warm and gentle spirit shines through.  These are just a few of the many reasons the Mayor extends his sincere congratulations and appreciation to Kathy for the outstanding attributes she exhibits as Employees of the Month.
