Emergency Medical Services

The Milford Fire Department provides both basic and advanced life support through the Operations Division. Fire Department response is the nearest fire company providing a minimum level of basic life support at the EMT level with automatic external defibrillation. If required an Advance Life Support Rescue vehicle with Paramedic assigned responds. A service unique to Milford is that whenever a paramedic is on duty that fire apparatus now becomes and advanced life support unit and can respond to the need throughout the city. The emergency medical functions include but are not limited to patient assessment, airway management, oxygen therapy, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, stabilization of musculo-skeletal injuries, treatments relating to traumatic injury including soft tissue and severe bleeding, emergency childbirth, poisoning, heat and cold related injuries and exposures. If there is a delay in the private ambulance response the departments rescue vehicles have transport capabilities to ensure a patient is delivered in a timely manner to a medical facility.
