Welcome to the Milford Public Library!

So much for the lazy days of summer – here in the Library we were busy with summer reading programs and as we head into Fall, we are no less busy. We have LOTS of programs on the schedule, including a few special events. The following is just a sample; for a full look, please see our program calendar

Adult Department

Movie Tuesdays: Every Tuesday at 2:00 we show popular movies in our program room.  No reservations are necessary, and best yet, free popcorn!

Computer Classes:  The topics vary, but include courses such as Facebook Basics, Mobile Apps, Emerging Technology, and Basic Computer skills.

Book Discussion Groups: We have three different groups focusing on different genres – Romance, Mystery and the Classics.

Genealogy: Monthly programs on various topics to assist the amateur genealogist.

Educational / Job Assistance: Monthly programs on employment, health, and financial issues.

And every month we have special programs to educate and entertain. In October we will have a gardening program focusing on Garlic (October 6), the New Haven Mineral Club will talk about the Minerals of Connecticut (October 8), we escape with the music of Italy (October 20) and explore our local past with a discussion by author Cynthia Wolfe Boynton on the Connecticut Witch Trials (October 29).

Finally, we are so pleased to have partnered with the Milford Arts Council to present to you a special stroll event of film and books celebrating Elizabeth Taylor.  The evening begins on Sunday, October 12 at 5:00pm with a film showing of A Place in the Sun at the Milford Arts Council; the film will be introduced by celebrated Hollywood Biographer, William Mann. Following the film, at 7:15pm, stroll over to the Library for a film discussion and book signing with refreshments. William Mann will be selling and signing copies of both his biography of Elizabeth Taylor, How to be a Movie Star: Elizabeth Taylor in Hollywood and his yet-to-be released book, Tinseltown:  Murder, Morphine & Madness at the Dawn of Hollywood. Tickets for the event are $10.00 and can be purchased either at the Library or the MAC – seating is limited, so get your tickets today!
