April 2014 Newsletter

Welcome to the Milford Public Library!

 Felice primavera!

If you can read my greeting perhaps it's because you've already discovered one of our newest resources - Mango Languages! Mango Languages is an online language learning tool featuring over 40 language courses, 16 English as a Second Language (ESL) Courses, and a library of foreign films to help you both practice your comprehension and learn cultural differences. Mango can be accessed from our website or by downloading the Mango App from Google Play or the Apple App Store.

But that's not all! The Library has also added Literary Reference Center; this comprehensive, full-text database provides a broad spectrum of information on thousands of authors and their works across literary disciplines and timeframes. It features an expansive collection of author biographies, plot summaries and work overviews, full-text essays from leading publishers, literary reference books and monographs, cover-to-cover full text for literary magazines and journals, book reviews from the most prestigious publications, poems from hundreds of sources, short stories, classic texts, author interviews, and much more.  Not just for students, anyone with an interest or appreciation of literature and history will find this a fascinating place to browse.

Still More!  For those of you with more practical needs or interests, we have also added Consumer Reports Online! So if your Spring projects include replacing appliances, getting your lawn equipment up to speed, or buying a new camera for Spring travels, then make this resource your first stop to ensure that you get the best deals for your money and needs.

As this newsletter highlights our newest online resources, I want to be sure you know how to access our physical collection online.  While you can always go to our website and online catalog using your computer or laptop, smart phone and tablet users can also access our catalog using the BookMyne App, also available in Google Play or the Apple App Store. BookMyne allows you to check our catalog, place holds and renew your materials, all from the convenience of your phone or tablet.

We hope you enjoy these new resources.  As always, if you run into any difficulties using these products please call or stop by the Library. We would be happy to help you!

Don't Miss Out...

Please Note:

Many of our online resources do require you to have a Milford Public Library card for access. If you are a  Milford resident and don't yet have one, please stop by the Library to get started.
