Mayor Blake is calling for a citywide food drive tosupport the Beth-El Center and the Milford Senior Center.

The Mayor is calling on city employees and residents to drop off items at the Milford Senior Center and the Beth-El Center between the hours of 9AM-4PM. There is also a drop spot for city employees in the Community Development Department and the Mayor’s Office.   “This is a call to action for the city with a big heart.  We will have these shelves stocked for our residents and seniors,” said Mayor Blake.  Mayor Blake will deliver as many items as possible to the shelter by Friday, October 30, 2015.

Milford Senior Center’s Food Bank Manager Sharon Brown speculates that seniors are choosing between buying medicine and buying food or paying their bills and buying food. Beth-El served 26,000 meals last year.  The center operates as more than a pantry, it is also a soup kitchen and shelter.
