CONGRATULATIONS to

Margaret Scukas

Accounting Clerk – Payroll in the Finance Department

for being selected as Employee of the Month for May 2016.

 

As the recipient of the award for the Mayor’s Employee of the Month Program, please join us in extending a warm congratulation to Margaret in receiving this recognition.  After a review of all of the nominations, the Selection Committee unanimously chose her as the winner for her outstanding work performance, professionalism  and teamwork.   

 

Margaret has held the position of Accounting Clerk – Payroll since her employment began with the City of Milford on December 18, 2000 and she is an essential part of the Payroll operations.

 

Margaret is assigned with the complex task of ensuring the accuracy of the payroll for Milford’s 550 employees and 150 summer and seasonal temporary employees.  On a weekly basis Margaret receives payroll information from each city department.  Margaret processes the payroll in accordance with all federal, state and local laws.  She is responsible for maintaining employee records including rate increases, earned vacation/sick time, tax withholdings, and any other deductions an employee may have.  She performs the calculations, posts and verifies the weekly payroll, runs weekly pension contribution reports, and administers heart and hypertension claim processing and longevity payments.

 

Margaret is often sought out by her fellow employees for her expertise regarding the   payroll process and the Kronos system.  Margaret addresses all questions with                 professionalism, patience and good humor.  Margaret is very well appreciated by all with whom she comes in contact.  Her dedication, work ethic and friendly nature make her an asset to the Finance Department of the City of Milford.  These are just a few of the many reasons the Mayor extends his sincere congratulations and appreciation to Margaret for the outstanding attributes she exhibits as Employees of the Month.
