How often does my business/home require a Fire Code inspection?

Connecticut General Statute 29-305 requires Fire Code inspections of all commercial buildings and residential buildings with three (3) or more living/sleeping units.

The frequency of inspection is varied based on occupancy type.  All restaurants, bars, and clubs holding more than 50 people, all schools, and all residential buildings (other than single- or two-family homes) require annual Fire Code inspections.

Occupancies of other types may require inspection at frequencies of one to four years.

(Single- and two-family homes do NOT fall under the statutory authority of the local fire marshal.)
