Back-to-School Backpack Program –
Begun each spring, Milford Youth and Family Services contacts area churches, local businesses or individuals, and enlists their congregants’ generous assistance. The Salvation Army purchases over 400 backpacks and the Department of Human Services, along with the Board of Education, identify those students who are unable to purchase back-to-school supplies on their own. Over the summer, the Milford Youth and Family Services staff coordinates this effort, collects the filled backpacks from the churches, organizes the drive, and delivers the backpacks to the children in all 8 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 2 high schools.
